The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) is conducted by the seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2015.
The performance of a candidate in this examination will form the basis for admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in the sixteen IITs and the Indian School of Mines (ISM).
The decisions of the JAB 2015 will be final in all matters related to JEE (Advanced) and admission to IITs and ISM.
There are two question papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Each question paper will consist of three separate sections viz., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The duration of each paper is of 3 hours.
The question papers will consists of objective type (multiple choice) and numerical answer type questions designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
Incorrect answers to some of the questions will be awarded negative marks.
Who is eligible?
The candidate must have passed in final examination of Class 12th or equivalent qualifying examination.
All the candidates aspiring to take admission in the undergraduate programmes at IITs and ISM Dhanbad for the year 2015 will have to appear in the JEE (Main)-2015 (Paper 1 (B. E./B. Tech.)). About 150000 top candidates based on the performance of JEE (Main)-2015 (Paper 1 (B. E./B. Tech.)) (including all categories)will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced)-2015.
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years irrespective of whether or not he/she passed the Qualifying Examination. Those who have attempted IIT-JEE in 2013 or earlier are NOT ELIGIBLE to appear in JEE (Advanced) – 2015.

In the previous year’s papers the marking scheme was as follows.
Paper 1 (Section 1, 2) : 3 marks for each correct answer, no negative marking
Paper 2 (Section 1, 2, 3) : 3 marks for correct answer, (-1) marks for incorrect answer
